THE NORTHAMPTON COMMUNITY ARTS TRUST’S mission is to protect and ensure the long-term vitality of the Northampton community through the acquisition and preservation of affordable and accessible space for creative work. We are a recognized 501(c)3 organization. 33 Hawley Street is our first project and houses three local arts organizations: the Northampton Center for the Arts, A.P.E. (Available Potential Enterprises) and Northampton Open Media (NOM)
WELCOME TO 33 HAWLEY!
In 2022, through the efforts and attention of Congressman Jim McGovern, The Arts Trust received a 2.5 million Community Project that led to final renovations and improvements to many of its spaces including the 3,000 + square foot Workroom; Green room, dressing rooms and catering support space; new box office area and concessions area in the Lobby; the creation of the Barn Door Gallery adjacent to the Lobby and new offices for the Northampton Center for the Arts and A.P.E.
The Arts Trust is deeply grateful for this funding and for the incredible work of our architects, Bonham & Douglas Architects in realizing our vision at 33 Hawley. For a wonderful virtual tour of their work, click HERE
Forward to 2024 and the Arts Trust is excited to announce that we have been awarded our 6th Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund matching grant to complete the final improvements for the Workroom! Our Federal grant allowed us finish the important infrastructure of the Workroom, but it fell short of enabling us to equip the Workroom with a full theatrical and sound system and a seating system to accommodate 200. This is a matching grant for $107, 000 so we will be reaching out to our community to raise the match for this grant award and secure the funding! Please see our Donation Page to make a gift!
33 Hawley Street art partners
The Northampton Community Arts Trust's 33 Hawley Street project is supported by three art partners - Available Potential Enterprises, Ltd. (A.P.E.), Northampton Center for the Arts (NCFA), and Northampton Open Media (NOM). Each partner will maintain an active presence at Hawley Street through its own specific programming that creates a collaborative and dynamic environment for the whole building.
