We asked a few of the folks who used 33 Hawley Street during our interim use period what their experiences were in the building — what they took away, what they look forward to once the building opens up again. First up is Peter Blanchette, musical director of the Happy Valley Guitar Orchestra.
There are not many places that can fit upwards of 20 guitarist and their equipment. 33 Hawley Street could. Nearly every Monday night for 18 months the orchestra set up and rehearsed in the downstairs "blue room." But they weren't the only ones in the house, and that prompts some thoughts from Peter.
